Idly or Idli is a steamed cake made from rice and black lentils originating from the fields of Southern India. Idlis are appreciated and loved as a light evening snack or a filling breakfast when enjoyed with vegetable stew or chutney. Idli rice is short-grained and used in making either idli or another favorite, dosa. Since, Organic Idli Rice requires the grains to be soaked, steamed, dried and finally milled to remove the outer hull, it results in rice that has double the fiber and half the glycemic load of regular white rice.
The term “organic” refers to the way agricultural products are grown and processed by using natural methods such as the use of manure and compost instead of chemical fertilizers.
