There is a state in the US (Georgia) that grows so many peaches that it is known as the Peaches State. In spite of that, America is not the top producer of peaches in the world, China is, followed by Italy as the second. If you buy peaches that are still raw, you can simply place them in a brown paper bag for a couple of days and they will ripen just fine.
Peaches are low on calories and saturated fats. They, however, have sufficient quantity of beta-carotene which converts to vitamin A in our body. Vitamin A helps in improving our eyesight and develops strong hair. The vitamins and minerals like potassium, fluoride, and iron found in peaches also offer protection from oral and lung cancer.
Many people find it difficult to peel the skin off the branded organic peaches. Here is a simple way to do it. take a large vessel and boil about 1 liter of water in the same. Keep another vessel with ice water (same quantity) handy. Take each peach and make a small cross-shaped cut at its bottom to crack open the skin. Put the peach in boiling water for 30 to 45 seconds. Carefully remove the peach from the pot of boiling water using a spatula and place it immediately in the ice cold water until it becomes cold enough to lift by your hand. Pick up the peach and skin peels off easily.
