Toor dal, also known as Pigeon Pea is one of the crops largely produced in South Asia. It was initially called Congo Pea. Organic Toor Dal is very resistant to drought. It grows in areas with low precipitation. Being organically grown, toor dar crops do not have any sort of toxic or harmful chemical added to it. It involves firstly the application of oil or water, then drying and followed by dehulling. The split version of pigeon pea is toor dal. The world production of toor dal is about 4.49 million tons.
Organic Toor Dal contains multiple essential amino acids like Tryptophan, Threonine, Isoleucine, Leucine, Methionine, Phenylalanine, Valine and Histidine. It is a great source of vitamins and minerals which are vital for our well being. For example, thiamine, riboflavin, and niacin. It contains folic acid which is great for the health of women, particularly the ones planning a pregnancy. It is rich in proteins and fiber. It is considered a superior source of carbohydrates.
Organic Toor dal is very famous amongst Gujarati and Marwadi cuisines and often enjoyed with roti or Indian bread and rice. Punjabi dal fry also uses toor dal in it. Sometimes, it is added to different subji preparations as well. South Indian cuisine adds toor dal in sambar and rasam which are considered to be the staple food there.
