Also known as Guwar, Guar, Guvar bean or Gavar, organic cluster beans grow in India in the Kharif season. They are resistant to drought and are available in the market all round the year. The cluster beans have a large amount of 'galactomannan gum' in them. Hence, when they are powdered into a fine powder and mixed with water, the mixture formed is a very thick gel known as Guar gum. This gum has thickening properties and is used in commercial and manufacturing industries.
